IN The Dark, the latest BBC crime drama, features a number of gripping cases set in the UK.
Created from books by novelist Mark Billingham the series follows Detective Helen Weeks as she deals with two challenging cases while preparing to become a mother. But where is the series filmed?
What is the In The Dark about?
The first case Helen is faced with takes her back to her childhood home when a friend from her past is involved in an abduction.
Meanwhile the second difficult case Helen deals with sees her forced to question her closest relationships when “a brutal tragedy drags her into Manchester’s dark criminal underbelly”.
Hilary Martin, Head of BBC Drama North who are producing the show, said: “In The Dark promises to be an incredibly compelling and personal crime show and Drama North is very proud to be bringing it to screen.”
Where is In The Dark filmed?
The first two episodes of In The Dark were filmed on location in Derbyshire, and the second were in Manchester.
One of the locations used for the production was Marsden which is located near Huddersfield, according to the .
The village centre became the focus for the crew during the filming of certain scenes, and fans may recognise the village from Where The Heart Is and The League of Gentlemen.
When is In The Dark on BBC One?
Way back in November 2015, the BBC announced it had commissioned In The Dark for BBC One – to be written by Bafta winning screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst.
And finally the four part mini series is here. The first episode aired on BBC One on Tuesday July 11 at and continues on Tuesday evenings at 9pm.
Part 1 (consisting of episodes 1 & 2) is directed by Gilles Bannier (whose credits include The Tunnel) and Part 2 (comprising episodes 3 & 4) is directed by Ulrik Imtiaz Rolfsen (whose credits include Taxi, and Varg Veum).
