Love Island’s Montana Brown breaks down as she blames issues with her dad for being unable to commit to Alex Beattie after he says he loves her

LOVE Island's Montana Brown broke down as she made a heartfelt confession about her dad after Alex Beattie said "I love you" for the first time.

The TV beauty didn't say the 'L' word back after Alex opened up about his feelings - and she later confessed she struggles to trust men - because of issues with her father.

After Alex dropped the bombshell, Montana barely reacted and she later felt the need to explain herself.

Talking to Olivia an emotional Mon said: "It is nothing to do with him, it is so much more to do with me.

"It’s to do with my f**ked up relationship with my dad. Ever since then I have found it so hard to trust men in general. I’m just like ‘what is the f***ing point’."

As she started to tear up, Olivia compassionately replied: "That was your male role model that every girl has and you wanted him and needed him and that has left a wound inside you that now you are in self-protection mode."

Montana then decided to talk to Alex about it and broke down once again as she said: "I didn’t respond because I was thrown.  I was so happy by what you said and I know I will get there. I’m just a slow burner when it comes to that."

She continued: "If anyone has got me a chance of feeling those feelings it will be you. I completely adore you in so many ways. I am not ready to say it yet but I am well on my way if that makes sense.

"I know I can come across really cold when it comes to that but I find it so hard to get in touch with my emotions. It is something that I have always struggled with since I was little.

"It does bottle up and it’s hard for me to trust men in general. The situation with my dad and everything, that broke me. I feel like now, every time I get into something with men I just feel like I can’t trust them and…."

As she tried to finish her sentence mid tears, Alex moved in to comfort her.

Earlier in the episode viewers watched as Alex told Montana he loved her as they lay in bed.

Concerned about her lack of reaction, Montana told the girls: “It was a lot for me to be his girlfriend after two weeks, that was a lot.”
