When asked about the criticism that the show is portraying an unrealistic body image for girls, Caroline told :  “I guess it is, really, isn’t it?”

She added: “I have nothing to do with the casting, so I can’t say why they pick certain people, but the type of people who apply are already quite body-confident, I guess.”

While Love Island is without a doubt the most-talked about show of the summer, many have questioned the show’s casting – which features a series of stunning women with model figures.

The topic has been widely discussed on Twitter, with one user writing: “It's no wonder that our young adults have body image problems when broadcasters like @itv2 put stuff like #LoveIsland on the TV.”

While another asked: “Is it any wonder girls and boys have body image issues #LoveIsland.”

And someone else questioned: “Love shows like love island but when are we going to see normal girls on it instead of absolutely stunning girls with unrealistic body image.”

Meanwhile Caroline, who is gearing up for the final on Monday, also said she believes the show is more about relationships than the sex.

She told the paper: “The sex is literally as interesting as them making a cup

of tea.

“When you’re into the storyline you’re like, ‘Oh no, stop that bit. We just want to hear what you’re going to say’.”

And she believes it’s all about finding the one, which is what makes it so popular, saying: “I know when I fall in love, I can’t control what I say or what I do or how I act because that little love bug comes out and it gets you, and you say all those things that you shouldn’t have said, and you argue about the silliest things, and that’s what you’re watching.”
