Love Island host Caroline Flack feels ’grossed out’ when cameras pan to couples feet during steamy sex clips
The presenter, 37, finds this particular part of the footage too much
THE Love Islanders’ frisky frolics have had millions of viewers tuning in – but one person who can’t stomach the saucy scenes is host Caroline Flack.
The presenter, 37, finds one aspect of the steamy footage particularly toe-curling.
Caroline told The Sun: “I don’t enjoy watching the camera panning to the feet when the couples are having sex — it’s uncomfortable viewing and really grosses me out.”
The current series, which ends tonight, has been one of the most talked about shows on the box and amassed viewing figures of 2.9million — a record for ITV2.
Talking of its success, Caroline said: “It’s grown through word of mouth and excitement.
“I guess it’s because everyone has been talking about it, it’s built naturally.
“While it’s escapism, viewers can relate to all the drama in the Villa no matter what walk of life you’re from, how old you are or whether you’re a girl or a boy.”
One Islander Caroline can particularly relate to is bomb disposal expert Camilla Thurlow who, like herself, once caught the eye of Prince Harry.
She revealed the scene in which Camilla split up with Jonny Mitchell reduced her to tears.
Caroline said: “I watched that episode in the hotel lobby and I had tears running down my face. I think the receptionist thought I was a state. It really got to me, we’ve all had our heart broken.
“Camilla wanted to cry, but not in front of other people, especially Jonny, and that’s real.”
Once the show ends there is no let-up for Caroline, who won Strictly in 2014. She is on the road touring the UK in West End musical Crazy For You.
And she admits: “I’ll miss being in this Love Island bubble.”
MORE FROM THE VILLA
It's the lust four
MONTANA and Alex waved goodbye to the Love Island Villa last night – leaving these four couples to battle tonight for the £50,000 prize.
Here, host Caroline Flack gives her verdict on each couple and who she thinks will stay together, plus we give their odds on winning.
Jamie & Camilla - 5/2
STRENGTHS: “Oh man, it was like Jamie came down from heaven and swept Camilla off her feet. He was ready-made for her.
“He is calm and mature. He has also been good for the Villa because he’s cooled down a lot of situations.
“He is exactly what she needed. It made me really happy she found someone.”
WEAKNESSES: “They are quite new together as a couple so are still finding their way.
"But they both seem to know exactly what they want, so I think they will work out quite quickly whether they will stay together or not.”
WILL THEY LAST? “I honestly don’t know when it comes to these two.
"I think that they will take things much slower when they are on the outside than everyone else will.”
Marcel & Gabrielle - 16/1
STRENGTHS: “I love the way he boosts her confidence.
"She’s been quite open about her insecurities and he’s been very considerate about the way she feels.
“When Marcel first walked in none of the girls wanted to couple up with him.
"Now all the girls in the Villa love him and he’s loved up. The change has been amazing to watch.”
WEAKNESSES: “They had a rocky patch when Marcel was surrounded by girls in Casa Amore but he wasn’t tempted.
"Gabby always maintained she wouldn’t have sex in the Villa and she’s been true to her word. I’m sure they will have a very nice time when they are out.”
WILL THEY LAST? “Definitely.”
Chris & Olivia - 11/4
STRENGTHS: “They have a very passionate and fiery relationship.
"Their ups and downs have made them stronger as a couple. Chris is funny and she’s older than him and a bit more experienced. I really like them together.”
WEAKNESSES: “Olivia’s obviously been hurt in the past, whereas Chris is young and quite inexperienced when it comes to girlfriends, but he’s fallen hook, line and sinker for her.
“They have silly arguments but it’s because of the intensity of the situation. My heart goes out to Olivia – sometimes she reacts in the wrong way but deep down she’s fragile.”
WILL THEY LAST? “Being on the outside will do them good. These two definitely need space to breathe and just learn about each other.”
Kem & Amber - 5/4
STRENGTHS: “It’s been so gripping watching their love story.
"They are obviously passionate about each other and are clearly attracted. They’re well matched. Kem’s funny and friendly, when you meet him he’s very forthcoming.”
WEAKNESSES: “They went from being completely loved up to hitting rocky ground in Casa Amore.
"It’s a classic example of when you see someone you like with someone else. I’ve been in that situation and it’s horrible. You realise, ‘Oh no, actually I really like him’.
“Kem had never had a girlfriend before – Amber was his first – so it’s been a huge learning curve for him.”
WILL THEY LAST? “I think things will go quite quickly when they come out. They’ll move in with each other and settle down.”
How Love Island has helped viewers...
LOVE Island has romped away in the ratings – and been a bonkers hit in the bedroom too.
The sexy shenanigans on the ITV2 show have proved a big turn-on for fans.
Even Katie Price has said it gets her and hubby Kieran Hayler “in the mood”.
And they’re not the only ones.
Ahead of tonight’s, ahem, climax, two couples tell DIANA APPLEYARD how the show has spiced up their sex lives . . .
"Gets blood pumping"
TATTOO artist Esther Whiting, 24, and tiler Danny Battimelli, 27, are from Maidenhead, Berks.
Esther: “We’ve been together for two years and watching Love Island has made us think about improvements we can make to our own relationship and sex life.
“It’s also made me realise that not all couples are perfect. We argue a lot but when we watched Olivia and Chris, I thought, ‘There’s no way I am as bad as that!’”
Danny: “Watching all the sexy antics certainly gets the blood pumping, our sex life has gone through the roof. And all the issues that come up in the programme make us discuss the ups and downs in our own relationship.”
"It gave us our best nights"
BT customer service man Jordan Davis, 21, and waitress Marta Brzozowska, 24, are from Brentwood, Essex.
Jordan: “I was approached to take part in Love Island but turned it down because of my relationship with Marta.
"I’m so glad I did. I appreciate her even more when I see women like Olivia playing games.
“No way would I have traded what I have for five minutes of fame.
"It’s also improved our sex life no end, watching all those beautiful people having sex definitely makes you feel more like it yourself.”
Marta: “Seeing how often the couples have sex has made us both up our game in that department.
"Watching them argue has also made me realise that it doesn’t have to spell the end of a relationship.
“Nights after watching Love Island are definitely our best.”
