And it appeared to result in herself and boyfriend Alex Beattie being dumped from the villa just days before the final.

Speaking to the , Montana explained: "[The intense environment] made us be bitchy.

"It was in the heat of the moment and I have been guilty of saying some things."

One of the star's harshest moments came after the lie detector test bombshells – which saw Gabby fail on a number of questions involving boyfriend Marcel Somerville.

Montana had Gabby in tears over her reaction to several tasks which had led to Montana being distrustful of her fellow islander.

And fans were in uproar tonight after Montana appeared to snub Gabby before leaving the villa.

The 21-year-old was dumped from the show with her partner Alex after receiving the lowest number of votes from the public.

But after bidding a tearful goodbye to her friends Amber and Olivia, Montana appeared to snub her former BFF by failing to embrace her before heading out the door.

The two girls used to be close but in the last week tensions have risen after Montana discovered Gabby and Marcel shared texts about her and Alex.

After avoiding each other by the pool after the result was announced, Montana gave a farewell speech at the door as she stood with Alex and their suitcases.

While the reality star said she would be rooting for "every single one of you", she only exchanged a lingering hug with Gabby's boyfriend Marcel, who referred to her as his "sister in the villa".

Montana sobbed as they cuddled, but didn't extend the gesture to Gabby, who stood awkwardly in the corner watching.

After hugging Amber one more time, Montana turned and left the villa, with the chance to say an individual goodbye to her former friend gone.

The move didn't go unnoticed by Love Island viewers, who took to Twitter to comment on the moment.

One wrote: "This is why Montana is still a bitch and got voted out, not hugging gabby and still has some sort of vendetta against her!", while another added: "Am I the only one who saw that Montana didn't give gabby a hug?"

A third wrote: "Alex and Montana didn't even say bye to Marcel and Gabby. Glad they're both gone, see ya."

Others were confused whether they had just missed the moment, writing: "Also did I miss if gabby actually say goodbye to Montana? Coz I'm pretty sure I didn't see that #snakey".

Montana came under fire from all angles, with another viewer tweeting: "Can't believe how rude Montana&Alex were saying goodbye to everyone else expect Marcel and Gabby. Clearly liked more than you."

However on Aftersun, Montana said there were no hard feelings between the two.

She told host Caroline Flack: "When you're in there emotions are heightened. You do say stuff off the cuff and things ruffle your feathers that wouldn't necessarily on the outside.
"I love Gabby and Marcel and I think we'll be friends on the outside. "
