Chloe Crowhurst admits Love Island can be bad for fans’ self-esteem because all the girls are ‘so skinny’
CHLOE Crowhurst has admitted that Love Island can be bad for girls' self-esteem because the contestants are "so skinny".
Her comments come after Caroline Flack admitted she thinks Love Island portrays an ‘unrealistic body image’ for young girls.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online ahead of the launch of her Eastern Dream Edit for MissPap, she said: "Everyone in there is very slim.
"Everyone needs to be confident in their own body, you don't have to be extremely slim to be beautiful so I think think people need to feel comfortable in their own skin.
"Everyone in the villa looks incredible so I understand that for the younger audience, if they're looking at girls in a bikini who are extremely slim all the time, then it is going to knock their confidence.
"At the end of the day, just because you're not slim doesn't mean you can't be beautiful.
During their time in the villa the girls were seen putting on a very sexy display for the boys as they worked up a sweat in the garden but Chloe says they "didn't work out every day".
"Definitely not, it was very hot there which made it so hard to work out. It was only an occasional thing."
Viewers were also outraged by the amount the islanders were smoking during the show but Chloe says they only did it out of boredom.
"When you've got nothing else to do, you just go have a cigarette and like the smoking area was probably the most comfortable place to sit in the garden," she said.
"It's just social."
Speaking about her new collection, she said: "I'm so excited about it. We went for a very different look, it's a very oriental collection.
"I've had amazing feedback on it so far which is amazing. I can't wait to do more fashion "
MORE FROM LOVE ISLAND
When Caroline Flack was asked about the criticism that the show is portraying an unrealistic body image for girls, she told : “I guess it is, really, isn’t it?”
She added: “I have nothing to do with the casting, so I can’t say why they pick certain people, but the type of people who apply are already quite body-confident, I guess.”
While Love Island was without a doubt the most-talked about show of the summer, some viewers questioned the show’s casting – which featured a series of stunning women with model figures.
The topic was widely discussed on Twitter, with one user writing: “It's no wonder that our young adults have body image problems when broadcasters like @itv2 put stuff like #LoveIsland on the TV.”
While another asked: “Is it any wonder girls and boys have body image issues #LoveIsland.”
And someone else questioned: “Love shows like love island but when are we going to see normal girls on it instead of absolutely stunning girls with unrealistic body image.”
