PAUL Danan has admitted to his Celebrity Big Brother housemates that he "f**king wants a drink" despite being sober for five years.

The former Love Island and Hollyoaks star, 39, has been free from alcohol and drugs since 2012 but confessed to housemates last night that he was desperate for a sip of whiskey and coke or beer.

While sitting with Jordan Davies, Shaun Williamson and Derek Acorah in the garden, Paul admitted he would love to celebrate the first eviction night by having a drink alongside everyone else.

He said: "A whiskey and coke would go down so well right now."

"F**k, do I want one," he added.

When Jordan, 25, asked if he'd like a sip of his own drink, Paul replied: "Nah there's no point."

A relieved Jordan said it was the right decision, telling him: "Okay, cool. I won't let you. I'll stop you. I won't let you."

But Paul then wavered and told Jordan to "f**k off" because he did want beer.

"I f**king do want one, though, oh f**k off," said Paul.

"I really want one of those beers as well.

"I so want one, f**k."

But TV psychic Derek, 62, stepped in to stop Paul reaching for any booze and quietly spoke to him about making the right decision.

Derek said: "Listen, in this situation, it’s about the things you want and the things that will surprise you to get to what you want to do, or the opposite.”

Paul agreed with Derek and pleaded with him to keep reminding him of that if he ever wavers again when it comes to drink.

He told Derek: ";Yeah, alright, it is the opposite isn’t it? Okay. Thanks.

"Please keep telling me, please.”

Derek said: "I will."

It happened just one day after Paul admitted he was "struggling" to not drink in the house.

During a heart-to-heart with Sarah Harding on last night's episode, the ex soap star said: "I'm struggling not drinking but I'm doing it.

"Drink was never my problem which is why I can do it."

Paul made the remarks while clearing the air with Sarah, who broke down in tears in the diary room after Paul expressed concerned about her recent boozy night in the house.

Sarah, 32, felt Paul's words could "ruin" her career as she's been open in the past about her battle with alcohol, and told him she'd had one night of drinking in the house and every other night she'd been in bed early.

He advised her not to drink in the house and said: "This is a job, when you work you don't drink, so treat it like a job.

"I was concerned for you, it wasn't out of malice or me wanting to get you out of here [that I nominated you].

"I f**ked myself with that Love Island show and I don't want that to happen for you.

"I want you to come out of here and go, 'I have nothing to worry about'.

"I know alcohol can do stupid things to people.

"I saw myself in you and got scared."

Paul spoke exclusively to The Sun Online about his past struggles with addiction before entering Celebrity Big Brother.

He admitted being hooked on cocaine and "party drugs" which led to rehab stints between 2006 and 2007,  and then battling an addiction to painkillers following a motorcycle accident in 2010.

“I kept taking the painkillers to numb the pain and because I have a tendency for addiction I got used to them and once you get used to opiates you get used to that pill, so you need more to take the pain away," he explained.

“If you try to come off them the withdrawal makes you ill, really, really sick and it's so hard to stop that.

“You have to do a detox and it took me many years to come off, I think I finally did in 2012.

“Painkillers, prescribed medication from the doctor, can be a killer, it’s dangerous, and it can become a real dependency.”

Paul now works with The Amy Winehouse Foundation, set up in the late singer's name to help young people understand the dangers associated with drugs.

Celebrity Big Brother airs 9pm on Channel 5
