Love Island’s Camilla Thurlow hailed an ‘inspiration’ as she reveals ‘overwhelming sadness’ during charity mission with Jamie Jewitt
LOVE Island's Camilla Thurlow has revealed she has been "humbled" and "overwhelmed with sadness" during her charity work in Greece with TV boyfriend Jamie Jewitt.
The pair, who are going strong since seeing sparks fly in the reality show villa, jetted off for their volunteer mission earlier this week.
As well as posting hugely smiley selfies showing them whipping up food for refugees and wearing matching charity T-Shirts, there has been a darker, thought-provoking side to their philanthropic work.
This weekend, Camilla, 27, candidly told how the pair had visited teenagers at Larissa Camp and watched them listening to music and playing sports, pointedly remarking the girls were "you and I born at another place and another time."
Posting a shot of the cute couple in their volunteer T-Shirts after making the trip she revealed: "It was the saddest happy day, watching the children enjoying Jamie's obstacle course, knowing that instead of a life full of the chances they deserve, they will wake up to the same day in the same place for who knows how long.
"They have already experienced immense hardship back home and on their travels, and now they continue to be affected by the traumatising reality of feeling stuck in a place with no hope."
Camilla, who spoke of her charity missions while in the sun-soaked villa, went on to heap huge praise on the work of organisation InterVolve which provided the youngsters with activities.
The pretty blonde and her model other-half made their final stop at Serres - a a camp where survivors from the Yazadi population live in a designated refugee camp.
She revealed: "Watching this group of ambitious, intelligent and compassionate individuals I was overwhelmed with sadness.
"They will not have the chance to live the life they deserve."

Earlier this week, we reported how the loved up couple had begun their volunteering at Nea Kavala refugee camp in Greece, while the rest of their cast mates are cashing in on their five minutes of fame.
Revealing that they were working on a documentary together, Camilla wrote: “We were incredibly lucky today to have the opportunity to volunteer with A Drop in the Ocean (@drapenihavet) in Nea Kavala camp. This incredible organisation abides by true humanitarian principles, delivering essential food and clothing in a dignified manner under difficult circumstances.
“Our whole trip has been coordinated by the amazing @hollypenalver founder of @indigovolunteers, and after an exceptional day one we are so excited to see what the rest of the week will bring.
“We will be keeping you updated on a daily basis, and will provide full information on how you can get involved in a short documentary when we get back 💛📽 @jamiejewitt_ #indigovolunteers #drapenihavet #HelpRefugeesUK #volunteer.”
Jamie enjoyed the experience just as much and told fans: “The best first day of our trip I could have imagined, i have never had such a rewarding experience thanks to @hollypenalver and @indigovolunteers at #neakavala #camp looking forward to the rest of the week and many more trips to come! #dropintheocean keep an eye out for mine and cams short documentary coming post trip.”
Their trip is in stark contrast to the rest of the Islanders who have been making endless night club appearances to rake in the cash.
Camilla made no secret of her charity work during her time on Love Island and is known for working with HALO trust, a landmine- clearing charity.
A Drop in the Ocean provides aids for refugees, their main focus is to help children and their mothers upon their arrival in Europe by coordinating volunteers and by collecting and distributing necessary equipment.
