STRICTLY FALLING IN LOVE ISLAND

Strictly Come Dancing considers asking Love Island stars to join line-up in shock U-turn

THE BBC has joined the hype over Love Island by performing a shock U-turn and considering inviting its ITV2 rival’s contestants on Strictly.

Despite ruling out reality wannabes in previous years, producers say they will consider the likes of MONTANA BROWN and CAMILLA THURLOW in future.

OLIVIA ATTWOOD would look great in Strictly sequins, judging from her appearance at the launch of In The Style’s Olivia Loves collection.

A dance show insider said: “Though they don’t want to admit it, everyone on the production team behind Strictly is obsessed with Love Island.

“The casting team have struggled to get big names involved and as Love Island appeals to a range of audiences, it makes sense to get them involved.”

The change in opinion comes after I told how household names are snubbing Strictly because they fear its infamous curse.

The most recent victim is 2016 runner-up LOUISE REDKNAPP, who has since separated from husband JAMIE.

While bosses have got decent signings in THE SATURDAYSMOLLIE KING and This Morning host RUTH LANGSFORD for the new series, there are also little-known figures such as Radio 4’s Susan Calman and Holby City’s Joe McFadden.

It could mean Strictly has one of the weakest line-ups since it returned to our screens 13 years ago.

But judge CRAIG REVEL HORWOOD won’t be pleased at the policy switch.

He has been outspoken about having any reality TV folk on the programme, saying they should be banned altogether.

He said: “It wouldn’t be good for the show. Strictly is all about the calibre of celebrity.”

At least I wouldn’t have to Google the Love Island participants, like I have with some of this year’s Strictly line-up.
