Celebrity Big Brother’s Sarah Harding takes a swipe at Cheryl and suggests she’s a control freak after accusing her of ‘meticulously’ planning her secret pregnancy
SARAH Harding has claimed her former Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl is a master at controlling her image and only shares what she wants with the public.
The 35-year-old singer branded Cheryl “savvy” in a candid chat with Amelia Lily, and claimed her former bandmate “meticulously” planned her secret pregnancy.
Celebrity Big Brother housemate Amelia kicked off the chat by saying of Cheryl: “She’s quite private, isn’t she?”
Sarah replied: “She tries to be.
“She just knows how to work it when she wants to.
“When she wants to be seen she is, and when she doesn’t, she makes sure she isn’t.
“Like with the whole baby thing, she just plans things meticulously.”
Amelia responded: “Clever lady.”
Sarah said: “She’s savvy, I’d give her that.”
She welcomed son Bear Grey Payne, whose dad is One Direction star Liam Payne, on March 22.
Her post on August 1, behind the scenes at a L’Oreal photoshoot, marked the first time she’d been pictured in six months, after deliberately keeping a low profile during pregnancy.
As well as keeping herself hidden from the cameras, the star has only released one image of her son – the Instagram snap posted on March 25 to announce his arrival.
It’s not the first time Sarah has spoken out about her ex bandmate Cheryl in the house – despite vowing before she entered CBB that she wouldn’t bring up the group.
She had told before launch night: “We were like sisters at the end of the day, so I wouldn’t go in there to talk about the band or their secrets.”
A friend of Cheryl’s then told The Sun Online: “Cheryl unfollowed her a year ago. It was nothing to do with anything now.
“She still follows Sarah on Instagram and Cheryl looks at Instagram more than Twitter.”
Sarah, meanwhile, posted a cryptic Instagram post which read: “Remember, those who hurt you will eventually face their own karma.”
Sarah, however, insisted that her Instagram hadn’t been aimed at Cheryl, telling OK!: “I post a lot of quotes. If I post something like that, then I just want to get it off my chest.
“It doesn’t mean it’s aimed at anyone in particular – and if it is, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s aimed at Cheryl.”
Sarah hinted that she’d drifted apart from Cheryl during a chat with Jemma Lucy, where she described the brunette as “very petite… like a Polly Pocket”.
“Everyone asks [if we have fallen out] but we’re so busy with our own stuff,” said Sarah.
“It’s not for me to say. Honestly, it’s not for me to say. I don’t like talking about the other girls if it’s a personal thing.
“I mean, we were like sisters, so of course it would never be plain sailing the whole time.”
“Being around girls all the time is difficult, you know? Nothing lasts forever. We went though so much, even if had fallen out, I’m sure it wouldn’t be a major deal in the future.”
In another chat with housemates, Sarah said there was one member of the band that she rarely speaks to these days but declined to reveal who.
She said: “It’s so hard to catch up with any of them, really. Everyone has got their own thing going on.
“Three of them have got families now…
“I haven’t seen or heard from one of them for forever.
“I don’t know where she’s gone.”
Sarah did then say she recently FaceTimed with Nadine Coyle, ruling her out as the Girls Aloud star she has no contact with.
The three band members with families are Cheryl, mum to Bear, Kimberley Walsh, who has sons Bobby and Cole, and Nadine, mum to daughter Anaiya.
“There’s been no fall-out,” she said.
“I don’t know Nicola and Cheryl’s reasons for not [speaking out to support her publicly], but she would love to have all of the girls’ support.”
Sarah has only received public support in CBB from two of her four bandmates: Nadine and Kimberley.
Nadine tweeted the day after the show started: “SARAH IS IN BB. She is such a gentle sweet soul at heart!!! I am so nervous for her but hoping she has a wonderful time!!”
Kimberley, meanwhile, used her Hello magazine column to send her well wishes.
“I think she’s really brave to put herself out there like that as it’s a lot of pressure and such an intense environment to be in,” she wrote.
“Sarah can sometimes be easily overwhelmed so I really hope she’s okay in there and enjoys the experience. She’s been great on the bits I’ve seen so far.”
Meanwhile, Sarah will admit in tonight’s episode that she “misses” her Girls Aloud bandmates.
In an emotional chat in the diary room, she says: “I’m such a fun loving person when I’m on form and with the right people around me, but I’m also really sensitive and my confidence was severely knocked over the last five or six years since the band ended.
“Nobody really tells you what to do when you’ve been up there for a majority of years.
“You’ve had a lot of crazy life changing scenarios happen during that time and then all of a sudden it’s gone.
“I hugely underestimated how big we were because I was in a bubble.
“I do miss them… I do miss them – but we are all grown up now.
“Most of them are getting married and having kids, which is what I want to do.”
Celebrity Big Brother airs 9pm on Channel 5
