DRAKE gave the crowds at Reading Festival a very unexpected treat when he made a surprise appearance on stage to support his pal Giggs.

The 30-year-old rap superstar sent the audience wild on Sunday afternoon when he popped up unannounced during Giggs' set to perform KMT.

There had been no indication beforehand that Headlines star Drake would be appearing at Reading Festival, so when Giggs told the already enthusiastic crowd to welcome his friend to the stage, the excitement levels went through the roof as everyone clocked just who that friend was.

Ahead of introducing Drake, Giggs had said: "Reading’s the only festival that used to book me. They’ve always showed mad love, so I wanna bring one of my friends out.

"He’s travelled a long way and I want you to give him a warm welcome, lets go..."

Drake then bounced out on stage to massive applause.

"I came all this way - seven hours - just to have this party with you," said Drake, before telling the audience he wanted to see the "moshpit gang" do their thing.

He added: "Reading, I go by the name of Drake. I appreciate you but today is not about me, so please make some noise for this legendary guy right here, my brother, who goes by the name Hollowman Giggs."

Fans immediately took to Twitter to hail Drake's performance, with one tweeting: "Giggs bringing Drake out is the best thing that has ever happened to me."

Another said: "Giggs brought out Drake at Reading Festival and I'm literally still in shock."

A third added: "Giggs bringing out Drake was the single best moment of Reading madness."

And a fourth tweeted: "Still can't believe Giggs brought out Drake, best moment ever."

There were others, however, who took to Twitter to lament missing the big moment as they'd chosen to go elsewhere during Giggs' set.

After their performance, Drake and Giggs both shared photos to Instagram showing them backstage before going on stage.

Referencing the hot Bank Holiday weather, Drake captioned his snap: "Enjoying this "Julie bring me a couple cans" weather today."

Giggs simply captioned his: "My brother."

Drake's KMT, featuring Giggs, features on the star's More Life playlist.

Meanwhile, other performers at this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals included Kasabian, Eminem, Muse, Liam Gallagher, Fat Bot Slim and Bastille.
