Towie’s Bobby Norris boasts becoming the first gay guy on Celebs Go Dating is a major TV moment
TOWIE’S Bobby Norris says his appearance on Celebs Go Dating will be a major TV moment for the public as he becomes the first gay person to appear on the show.
He revealed he loved the attention as a result of being the only one on the current series, which begins tonight on E4.
Bobby, 31, told the Sun’s Bizarre column that not a lot of people know about what happens when gay people date so his appearance on the show is very important.
He said: “One of the most common questions I get asked when guys date is 'how do you settle the bill?'
“So I think it’s good for people to see dating-wise. It’s never really been shown on a reality dating show – gay guys dating.”
The Only Way Is Essex star admitted his confidence was at all time low due to ex Harry Derbidge's cheating.
And he was left devastated when his granddad died during filming.
Bobby said: “I had the lowest confidence you could have when it comes to dating.
“I carried insecurities from previous relationships so walking into the agency I felt very lacking in confidence to sit on and dates and Nadia and Eden have been amazing.
“I loved that I was the first gay guy to do it.
“Our first mixer was me and Calum - he had the girls and all the guys were obviously on the Bobby bus - it made me know who was there for me. And I went in there with the girls too.”
And receptionist Tom Read Wilson was also happy to see a fellow gay man appear on the show.
He added: “It was so lovely to have a gay chum who had been through a lot of the same things I had on a date because I'm a terrible flounderer on dates.
“That was helpful because you've got a lot of that to draw on.”
