Sir Bruce Forsyth laid to rest in ‘sad but beautiful’ funeral attended by family and close pals
SIR Bruce Forsyth’s funeral took place yesterday and was described by friends as “sad but beautiful”.
The intimate and private affair was attended by only family and close pals.
Guests lined up and released 12 white doves into the air to pay tribute to the veteran entertainer.
The former Strictly Come Dancing host died aged 89 at home surrounding by his wife Wilnelia Merced and children on August 18.
The founder of Phones 4u, John Caudwell, posted a video clip from the funeral on social media site Instagram.
It shows funeral guests releasing the birds to cries of “hip hip hooray”, just after a speaker says: “To the rainbow. Somewhere over the rainbow. Until we all meet again.”
Other guests cheered as the doves flew into the sky.
Alongside the footage John wrote: “A sad but beautiful moment at Bruce’s funeral.
“The loss of a dear friend and amazing entertainer that spanned my whole life! RIP Sir Bruce. X”
A more public celebration of Sir Bruce’s life is also being planned.
Sir Bruce played the London Palladium on Sundays in the 1950s and 60s.

Then rose to superstardom on The Generation Game in the 1970s, Play Your Cards Right in the 1980s, and Strictly Come Dancing.
His professional career began when, as a 14-year-old, he worked the music halls under the name Boy Bruce The Mighty Atom.
