Coronation Street launches its first ever sixth weekly episode with Eva Price’s wedding to Aidan Connor going disastrously wrong
Fans of the soap will now enjoy three double bills every single week
CORONATION Street’s boss Kate Oates has revealed the new sixth episode will debut with the action packed wedding of Eva Price and Aidan Connor, beginning on September 20 as part of a massive week for the soap.
Corrie fans will now get double helpings of their favourite soap on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays every week.
Producer Kate Oates has revealed that the massive week will kick off a huge autumn for the show.
In an unexpected twist Eva Price's revenge plan will hit a roadblock when Aidan Connor confesses to his affair with Maria on their wedding day.
Despite this Eva plans to go ahead with her plan to jilt Aidan but uses his confession to humiliate Maria on the hen night.
However the wedding day sees Maria storm the ceremony to try and stop Aidan from marrying Eva.
This will lead to one of Corrie's classic scraps with Maria and Eva fighting it out in a fountain, Eva in her full wedding ensemble.
Things also don't go to plan to Jenny Bradley and Johnny Connor when Rita is rushed to hospital and jenny refuses to leave her bedside putting their wedding in doubt.
Meanwhile Michelle Connor's stalking horror reaches a chilling climax when she is cornered by ex-boyfriend Will in his house as she realises it is him.
The week of episodes will also see the introduction of Jim Moir - better known by his stage name of Vic Reeves - as media boss Colin Callen who takes an interest in Norris and mary Cole after their fake wedding.
But is all as it seems with the media tycoon and what does he want with the cobbles favourites?
Executive producer Kieran Roberts said: “Getting read to deliver our extra weekly episode has taken our amazing team more than a year of hard work on everything from story-lining to studio building.
“Now we’re thrilled to be launching our extra weekly episode on Wednesday 20 September, at the heart of a truly unmissable week of high drama, high emotion and heartwarming comedy.”
The show's run will begin on Wednesday September 20.
