Jake Quickenden announces his engagement to Danielle Fogarty after proposing on his 29th birthday
Former I’m A Celebrity star admitted he cried when he got down on one knee and couldn't get out his specially prepared speech because he was too emotional
JAKE Quickenden has confirmed he’s engaged to his girlfriend Danielle Fogarty.
The former X Factor and I'm A Celebrity star popped the question on his 29th birthday.
Jake told his fans: “So so happy to finally be able to announce.... she said yes @danielle_fogarty1 here's to an amazing future together, I will always have your back and I love you so much.”
In an interview with , Jake explained: “I had a whole speech prepared, but as soon as I opened the ring box I was blubbing and I couldn't speak.
“I didn't even ask Danielle to marry me, but luckily she said 'Yes' when she saw the ring – and then she started crying too.”
Speaking about the moment she realised what was happening, Danielle said: “Even though you didn't say anything, I knew that this was the moment I'd been dreaming of. It could not have been a more perfect moment.”
Jake chose to get down on one knee at the couple's favourite wine bar close to their home in Preston.
The pair are hoping to wed in 2019 and have started planning their nuptials.
Jake was introduced to Danielle through her dad Carl, who struck up a close friendship with Jake when they met in the I'm A Celebrity jungle.
Last month Jake revealed he'd spent £5,000 on a hair transplant in order to feel confident on his wedding day to Danielle.
He exclusively told The Sun: “It looks like I have toupee on now because I can’t style it.
“I have just done something for myself to sort an insecurity out.”
He revealed he knew he wouldn’t look good if he lost all his hair because he previously shaved his head for Teenage Cancer Trust and thought to himself “you need hair, you are ugly”.
“You are always going to get someone saying something bad – I can’t care. It’s about sorting it out for myself.
“It is a big deal for many men and the amount of comments from guys saying thanks for being so open about – well, if it’s helped in that way it’s great.”
