MEGAN McKenna has declared she's "proved her doubters wrong" after sealing her transition from reality TV star to country singer by winning the best newcomer prize at this year's Boisdale Music Awards.

The Towie star is flying high in the charts and she has now won her first gong for her music.

The TV beauty attended the ceremony in London last night and she was presented with the award by music industry veteran Jools Holland.

Megan, 24, told the crowd at the glitzy bash that she is having the best week after scoring her first number one with her debut single High Heeled Shoes.

She also insisted winning the award proved the "doubters" wrong.

Megan told The Sun Online: "I literally can't believe it. This is so amazing. I'm just so happy that people are respecting me for my music.

"I'm just so happy right now. It's been the best week ever for me, I can't get my head around it.

"To be able to win people over with my music and my talent means everything... prove my doubters wrong."

She also revealed she is keen to record more music and head out on tour, even if it means putting her role in Towie on the back burner.

Megan added: ";I would love to record more music and tour.

"That's the next aim for my career right now. Obviously I've done TV stuff but this is what I want to do."

She was accompanied to the ceremony by her boyfriend Pete Wicks and her family, and she explained their support means everything to her.

Megan said: "It means the world that Pete and my family are able to be here with me.

"They have been supporting me all the way through."

Her dreams of country music stardom are coming true after her debut single High Heeled Shoes shot to number one on the iTunes chart.

The Towie star's track outsold Taylor Swift, Pink and Dua Lipa following its release on Tuesday.

Adding to the Essex favourite's joy was another album track, Far Cry From Love, taking the number five spot on the chart, while the two tracks topped the separate country chart as well.
