Coronation Street’s Catherine Tyldseley reveals the secrets behind her incredible five stone weight loss as she busts fat myths on new documentary
CATHERINE Tyldesley has revealed her diet secrets which enabled her to lose five stone in weight.
The Coronation Street actress weighed 15 stone at her heaviest and wore a dress size 22.
However Catherine, 33, changed her lifestyle when she realised how much it was impacting on her health.
And, in a new documentary for ITV’s Tonight programme, Catherine looked into the UK’s obesity crisis and opened up about her own weight loss story.
In an interview about the show, Catherine told : “I took control of my weight, and I slowly and steadily lost more than 5st.
“Along the way, I learned to understand just how important a healthy, balanced diet is. It sparked my huge interest in healthy living and nutrition.”
Catherine, who plays Eva Price on the ITV soap, also worked with nutritionist Nichola Ludlam-Raine to overcome some myths – including whether coconut oil is actually good for your health.
Catherine explained: “Nichola says [coconut oil] is predominantly made up of saturated fat, too much of which can harm your heart.”
Before she lost weight, Catherine said she would indulge in comfort food including cakes and pizza.
She told : “It was a really, horribly depressing time.All my friends were lean and athletic, and I was huge.

“I wanted to shop in the same places as my friends and wear clothes like them but I was too big. That’s why I want to help people.”
Now Catherine, who works out regularly, tries to cut out junk food and processed meals.
She continued: “Everything has improved; my energy levels, my skin, my hair.
“And exercise raises endorphins, which make you feel happy.”
