“Along the way, I learned to understand just how important a healthy, balanced diet is. It sparked my huge interest in healthy living and nutrition.”
Catherine, who plays Eva Price on the ITV soap, also worked with nutritionist Nichola Ludlam-Raine to overcome some myths – including whether coconut oil is actually good for your health.
Catherine explained: “Nichola says [coconut oil] is predominantly made up of saturated fat, too much of which can harm your heart.”
Before she lost weight, Catherine said she would indulge in comfort food including cakes and pizza.
She told : “It was a really, horribly depressing time. All my friends were lean and athletic, and I was huge.
“I wanted to shop in the same places as my friends and wear clothes like them but I was too big. That’s why I want to help people.”
Now Catherine, who works out regularly, tries to cut out junk food and processed meals.
She continued: “Everything has improved; my energy levels, my skin, my hair.
“And exercise raises endorphins, which make you feel happy.”
