Doctor Foster fans outraged at X-rated scene showing warring exes Gemma and Simon having rough ‘hate sex’ while son listens upstairs
Fans outraged as X-rated scenes show warring former couple having rough sex on their dining room table with their son upstairs - despite Gemma's vicious battle with ex-husband Simon.
VIEWERS of Doctor Foster were "dropping their crochet hooks" after violent graphic scenes showed the lead characters having "hate sex" while their son Tom was upstairs.
Former husband and wife Gemma and Simon Foster got very intimate after he came over to discuss Tom's troubles at school - and fans were outraged that Doctor Foster had even considered getting it on with her "evil" ex.
After the whole first series showing the cheating former husband and his wife trying anything to get back at each other, this surprise series two twist left fans flabbergasted.
The scenes saw Gemma strip down to her undies in the kitchen and bend over the counter, before telling Simon: "Go on, then."
After Simon rebuffed her advances and told her she was "disgusting" - despite reminiscing about their enjoyable marital sex - he eventually succumbed and the pair had sex in the dining room.
Viewers were soon joking that they hoped Gemma would be using anti-bacterial wipes on the table and chairs afterwards.
An extra sting in the tail came when it was later revealed their poor, troubled son had heard the whole thing - because Gemma "had never realised how thin the walls".
As of series two, Simon - played by Bertie Carvel - is building his own family with younger partner Kate, and after his romp with Gemma, refused to acknowledge it had happened.
When Gemma threatened to tell Kate about the incident, he even jeered: "If only you'd filmed it."
However, later in the episode Gemma decided to take Tom away from their home and from Simon for good.
Simon found out by text while playing with his and Kate's new baby daughter.
But even then fans were still reeling over why Gemma had offered herself to "the devil" by inviting Simon to have "Fifty Shades" sex with her again.
Once it was revealed that Tom had heard his parents having "hate sex", a sheepish Gemma had to explain to him that she was missing Simon "as her husband".
Despite that, Simon's despicable behaviour saw him trying to send Tom to a different school away from his mum - and also banned him from coming to his and Kate's house.
That meant he was put back into the role of villain by the end of the episode, with the penultimate instalment due next Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One.
