Towie’s Chris Clark blames relationship with Amber Dowding for making him ‘fat’ after finally finding happiness – and hints Jesy Nelson romance made him body conscious
CHRIS Clark has revealed he’s put on weight since getting back with girlfriend Amber Dowding as their “happy relationship” has made him stop worrying so much about his appearance.
The Towie star, 22, and Amber, 24, rekindled their romance in April following eight months apart - shortly after he broke up with Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson, and Chris admits their food loving lifestyle is taking its toll.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, he said: “When I say Amber that I’ve put on weight she tells me I haven’t, but I know my own body and that I need to be in the gym.
“I want the body I had earlier this year back, as after you get a girlfriend it’s all takeaways and dinners, it becomes routine and you end up feeling a bit fat.
“I eat dominos, KFC - you name it, we have it. I’m a sucker for carbs.
“But I’m happy, I’m in a great relationship, so I think everyone does it.
“And when you’re happy and in a relationship you stop worrying so much about your physical appearance, I feel like in the past six months have been so good with us being back together.”
Chris’s previous relationship with Jesy lasted from January to April this year when he broke up with her over text and later confessed that the romance was bad for his self-esteem.

Following the breakup he told OK!: “I didn’t understand why she was interested in me – I’m just someone from Towie. I always felt like second best to Jesy. But that was my issue, not hers.”
And now the star has hinted that the relationship took its toll on his body confidence as well.
He told to The Sun Online: “For the first few months of this year I was not eating any food and now I’m practically carb loading.”
Now however Chris is set on achieving his “summer body” and says Amber is keen to get involved with his gym routine.
“I’m gonna start getting my summer body in the winter, I want to have a big, big exercise shift and start back in the gym this week.
“Me and Amber motivate each other as well, Amber’s always wanting to train.
“We went to the gym once together and it didn’t really work out well as she just kind of sat and watched me, but I think what we need go together but see different trainers and do it under the same roof so we can motivate each other and get our summer bodies.
“I’ve joined a football team too, so that’ll be good. I’m always going to enjoy my food but I just need to exercise again.”
And while Chris may have a newfound enthusiasm for training, he’s not going to let that get in the way of his favourite winter activity.
He said: “We’re happy though, we don’t care too much about that stuff anyway, we just wanted to be snuggled in front of the TV watching X Factor and Home Alone.”
Chris took part in Stand Up To Cancer’s Great Canoe Challenge. Stand Up To Cancer is a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4.
