DOCTOR Foster fans have shared a chilling new fan theory that could see Gemma go to prison.

The second series of the BBC drama ends tonight and viewers are hoping for some answers.

It’s still unclear if the show will return for a third series but fans have come up with a theory of how to push the storyline forward.

Some viewers are convinced Simon, played by Bertie Carvel, could frame Gemma for murder and send her to prison.

Last week’s episode ended with a huge cliffhanger, as Gemma looked poised to run over her ex-husband.

Simon has stated repeatedly that the only way he will ever leave his hometown of Parminster is if he is carried out “in a coffin”, and fans are convinced he could have predicted his own demise.

During their bust-up at the end of the episode, he tells her: “I made it crystal clear from the beginning, the only way I’m leaving this town is in a coffin.”

During their fight, Simon taunts Gemma about their son, and she then turns away and pulls out her phone.

It is not clear what Simon did, but one theory suggests that he may have sent a text message to their son Tom.

Some fans are convinced that Simon texted Tom with a grave message claiming Gemma had murdered his dad.

After their spat, Simon marches off down the road and Gemma is furious as she zooms up behind him in her 4×4, swerving wildly.

Viewers will have to wait until tonight so see what stunt Simon actually pulled. Did he contact Tom or the police?
