Love Island’s Marcel Somerville hints he’s owed writing credits on Kem Cetinay and Chris Hughes Little Bit Leave It as he deletes cryptic tweet after track goes to number one
MARCEL Somerville appeared to hint he is owed writing credits on Kem Cetinay and Chris Hughes's number one track, Little Bit Leave It.
The Love Island stars have seen their debut single soar to the top of the iTunes chart in under 24 hours, but their former islander posted a cryptic tweet reminding the pair about his involvement in the song.
In a tweet that has since been deleted, Marcel wrote: "Boys the tune sounds sick!!! I hope u did the right thing with the chorus & bars I wrote."
Kem and Chris had first created the song in the Love Island villa alongside Marcel as a part of a talent show task.
The trio - who were called Run KMC - worked together on the lyrics while Marcel also created the beat on a keyboard that was provided for them.
Some fans felt Marcel's tweet was a slight swipe at his former islanders as one commented: "Sounds like your hating a little bit leave it".
Marcel tweet came after Chris and Kem thanked fans for helping the song get to number one on the iTunes chart last night after just three hours.
He wrote: "Number #1 in 3 hours HOW HAS THIS HAPPENED! best moment in my life ever!! Support has been crazy."
The duo officially released the single last night after premiering it on their spin-off show, Chris and Kem: Straight Outta Love Island.
The stars were signed to Sony Records after debuting their song Little Bit Leave It at Ministry of Sound on the show.
The best pals, who met on Love Island this year, were signed by bosses after making a success of their first public performance on their show.
The Sun previously revealed news of their deal last month with a source saying: “They have been in talks to sign a record deal since leaving the villa.
“Kem and Chris captured the nation this summer – and everyone including Stomzy was keen to see them pursue their love of music. They’re really excited to have been given this opportunity – it’s like a dream come true.”
The double act has signed with Sony label Relentless Records, a move which will see them on the same books as rapper Professor Green.
Kem and Chris rose to fame on ITV2’s Love Island where they bonded over their love of rap music, which even led to Stomzy making an appearance on the show.
Essex-born Kem, who went on to win the series with girlfriend Amber Davies, has since spoken to the grime star about working together.
Stomzy hinted that they may be collaborating together when asked about his friendship with the Love Island duo at last night’s Mercury Prize Awards.
He said: “Find out next time.”
There is also talk that Stomzy may cameo on their reality show Straight Outta Love Island, which airs later this year.
Kem revealed earlier this year that X Factor champ Louisa Johnson had shown interest in wanting to work together, with Chris saying: “We had a little pinky on it, so you can’t break a pinky can you?”
During the same interview the pair spoke about their promising music career and plans to get writing in the studio.
Kem said: “There’s lots of studio time waiting to happen. Like, we need to actually get to work on doing something. We can’t go into the studio if we ain’t got things ready.
Chris added: “Do you know what; we’ve got our own stuff coming up though.
“We’ve got to write our own stuff and at the moment we’re mincing about with all these big people and just like not doing a lot ourselves.”
