CHERYL TWEETY

Throwback pic of Cheryl’s bum tattoo reminds fans why she got it covered up by a massive rose inking

REMEMBER the time when cartoon character Tweetie Pie graced Cheryl's bum?

No, nor us.

Yet a throwback snap from the singer's Girls Aloud heyday has proven just why the gorgeous Geordie opted to have the cute bird covered up with her massive rose design.

Fans of the new mum were sent into a frenzy as the 2003 booty snap resurfaced today, showing Cheryl from the rear with her white thong - and derriere design - in full view.

The 14-year-old photo also gives a glimpse of a butterfly and barbed wire inking which stretches across the lower part of her back, and has also since been masked with the floral artwork.

With her hair in cornrow braids and wearing Adidas tracksuit trousers, Cheryl looked a world away from her regular, preened self.

The Fight For This Love singer - now 34 and mum to Bear, her son with Liam Payne - can be seen flashing a huge pout as she perches her hand on her bum during a saucy dance routine.

Her ex bandmates, mimicking a similar pose, can be seen in line in front of her.

The stunning brunette shocked fans when a picture of the artwork — for which she
endured 15 hours of agony — emerged in 2013.

The design, by US artist Nikko Hurtado, came after Cheryl had a rose done on her lower back to hide the insect.

The response to the replacement tattoo — done at a cost of nearly £4,000 — varied from “trashy” to “s***”, with one baffled Twitter user posting: “This has upset me. Was there any need?”

Medical experts also warned of the potential risks of infection — and even hinted at it being a cry for attention.

But a chuffed Cheryl insisted she was “really happy” with the mammoth design by world-renowned tattooist Hurtado in Los Angeles.

Talking of her tattoo passion, Cheryl previously said: ‘If it was up to me — and I could be brave for one day — I would have my whole back done."

Cheryl endured agonising sessions spanning six months to have the inking carried out.

Tattooist Nikko, who charges around £250 an hour, said after the marathon job: “It was some intense tattooing session. She’s tough as nails.”

Chezza, who has at least 12 other tattoos, most recently had a cute pink heart design etched on her middle finger and a rose with barbed wire and thorn detail on her leg.
