It's not that surprising that this fascinating political thriller is nominated for a TV Bafta
BBC show Informer has earned itself a nomination at this year’s Bafta TV Awards.
So, which category was the show nominated for, who is in the cast and where can you watch the show now that it has ended its first season run?
Informer landed itself one nomination at the Bafta TV Awards 2019.
It will go up against BBC's Bodyguard, Killing Eve and Sky Atlantic's Save Me in the category of Best Drama Series.
The ceremony takes place on May 12, 2019, at the Royal Festival Hall, and airs at 8pm on BBC One.
There'll be a live stream covering the red carpet from 5.30pm on Bafta's official social media pages, it has been confirmed.
Nabhaan Rizwan plays Raza Shar
His character is described as a British-Pakistani who is born and raised in East London, and to say that he has a rough upbringing would be quite the understatement.
Raza is stuck in a minimum wage job and doesn’t quite know where he fits in, which constantly sees him moving from various different social circles.
Following a long night of partying, Raza is arrested for a minor offence.
London’s Counter-Terrorism Special Unit (CTSU) find an interest in him and make it known they want to recruit him as an informant.
Paddy Considine plays DS Gabe Waters
Gabe is a qualified officer in the CTSU.
He knows everything there is to know about London and its communities.
Navigating through the city never seems to be a problem for him.
Gabe is always on high alert when he’s on the job.
He’s the handler of a network filled with East London informants and goes to extreme lengths in order to gain the information he needs.
This certainly isn’t the type of character you want trouble with.
Gabe is sure to get anything and everything out of those who he thinks have something he needs or wants.
Charm, manipulation, and persuasion are just some of the tactics that have worked immensely well for him throughout the series.
Bel Powley plays DC Holly Morten
Holly Morten works as Gabe’s new partner.
As described by the BBC, “Holly is one of a new generation of police officers that make up London’s thin blue line; a millennial who grew up in the age of the internet… for her, the war on terror is not a battle, it is a permanent state of being”.
Bel, who plays the character, is also famously known for starring in The Diary of a Teenage Girl and Mary Shelley.
It's rather interesting that an Oxbridge graduate, who quite literally could have walked into a job at any consultancy firm, would settle for a career with Metropolitan Police.
Of course, putting herself in a position of power came with forging her way to the top, but there's no denying that she's extremely good at her job.
Rose works as a DCI in London's Counter-Terrorism Special Unit and stresses that she'll continue to keep the streets safe for as long as she remains in position.
Joining those four in the cast are Sunetra Sarker from Broadchurch, Baptiste star Jessica Raine and Roger Jean Nsengiyumva from Sixteen.
The series was directed by Johnny Campbell whose credits include episodes of Westworld and The Casual Vacancy.
Informer follows second-generation Pakistani East Londoner Raza, who is coerced by a Counter-Terrorism officer called Gabe to go undercover and inform for him.
The officer - who has a mysterious past - is joined by Holly, his new and ambitious partner who poses a threat to Gabe and the operation due to her curious nature.
As the central investigation heats up, the stakes get higher and higher, and it rapidly becomes political for all three characters.
