Towie’s James ‘Arg’ Argent reveals he’s back in touch with ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright on Loose Women – but rules out a reunion
The 29-year-old reality star appeared on the panel show to discuss his new nose and the future of his time on Towie
JAMES ‘Arg’ Argent has heaped praise on his ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright – and has revealed that despite their awkward break-up, they have remained friends.
The 29-year-old Towie star was in an on/off relationship with Lydia for seven years, until his addictions caused her to pull the plug on their romance for good.
However, after heading to Thailand for three months to spend time in a rehab facility, Arg appeared on Loose Women to discuss his new lease of life clean and sober – and revealed he’s back in touch with his old flame.
Speaking to the panel, Arg said: “We’ve kept in contact, sent the odd text here and there, and I popped into her mum’s the other day for a cup of tea. We’ve actually become friends.”
However, despite their friendship, the Towie star has shut down the idea of a reunion between them.
She said: “Lydia was my first…we have been on and off for seven or eight years and known each other for nine.
“She was my first love - and my only love thus far - and I think it’s nice now that we can talk now and be friends but yeah…that’s all it is.”
Arg’s appearance on Loose Women comes just after his triumphant return to Towie after leaving the show to get himself clean.
He proudly revealed that since his stint in a facility he “hasn’t looked back” and has undergone a nose job to clear his insecurities.
The star boasted: “I’ve lost nearly four stone now and I’ve done a really good show in Celebs Go Dating, and fortunately now I’ve come straight back to Towie, so I’ve been really lucky to be honest with you.”
However, he was forced to defend himself when the panel – consisting of Andrea McLean, Linda Robson, Stacey Solomon and Kay Adams – took issue with him feeling the need to go under the knife.
When quizzed about whether he felt pressure to be on par with his Towie co-stars, Arg hit back that he just wanted a natural nose, with smaller nostrils and a bump removed.
“There’s a lot of good-looking fellas on the show, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not too bothered,” he said.
“I’m not trying to be in competition with them or anything like that.”
