Megan McKenna will have ‘less screen time’ and will not be a full time cast member on Towie after reducing her hours to pursue singing career
MEGAN McKenna will have less screen time and will not be a full time cast member on Towie after reducing her hours to pursue her singing career.
The TV beauty is cutting back the amount of time she spends filming the show so she can chase her dreams of becoming a chart star.
Megan has proved she is a force to be reckoned with in the country music industry after scoring a big hit with her debut single High Heeled Shoes.
She is now working on touring and completing her album, and the The Sun Online can exclusively reveal she will be cutting back her time on Towie to juggle all her commitments.
Although she is not quitting the show, Megan will no longer be a regular castmember.
An insider told us: "Megan is reducing her hours so she can focus on chasing her country music dreams.
"She’s filming less days with TOWIE because of her increasing commitments to music."
Megan is choosing to focus on music, but she will keep making appearances in the show.
After her split from co-star Pete Wicks, there are no big story lines coming up to keep Megan at the centre of the Towie drama.
She has been enjoying huge success with her music and she's keen to grab all the opportunities that come along over the next few months.
High Heeled Shoes was released at the start of September following the final episode of her ITVBe reality show, There's Something About Megan, which documented her bid to break the lucrative country music market in the US.
REALITY TO POP 9 times reality stars have tried to make it as a singer – from Megan McKenna to Joey Essex
She travelled to Nashville for an extended period over the summer to work with country music singers and song-writers and perform a showcase for record label bosses.
In the last episode, the star performed four songs at her showcase in front of an audience of music industry big wigs.
Speaking about her career, Megan exclusively told The Sun Online: "What people don't know is that I've been making music myself for years as a hobby. I've been working with a lot of different producers and recording things.
"I've never really had a chance to talk about it before. Because I'm a reality star people don't think I'm so passionate about it and don't take me seriously but this is all I've ever wanted to do."
She added: “It's not just about a TV show for me. It's a dream of mine.
"Yes it is another reality show but it is with the hope of launching a music career. I did Ex On The Beach and fell into reality TV but music is what I've always loved doing.”
And Megan is already getting acceptance from respected people in the industry after she was crowned the best newcomer at this year's Boisdale Music Awards.
The TV beauty attended the ceremony in London last month and she was presented with the award by music industry veteran Jools Holland.
Megan, 24, told the crowd at the glitzy bash that she was having the best week after scoring her first number one with her debut single High Heeled Shoes.
