Terrified Katie Price forced to call in police after her son Harvey was ‘targeted in a £50,000 blackmail plot’
TERRIFIED Katie Price called in police after her son Harvey was targeted in a £50,000 blackmail plot.
The TV star, 39, said she raised the alarm after receiving an anonymous email warning that Harvey’s face would be “smashed in” unless she paid the cash.
The sick schemer also threatened to release details of an affair they claimed Katie’s husband Kieran Hayler, 30, was having with a friend.
And they demanded that Katie arrange for the blackmail money to be delivered to an East London address.
Bizarrely, they also demanded a designer Armani dress as part of the deal.
The email, sent to Katie’s management company, is now being investigated by police, who are said to be taking the matter “extremely seriously.”
Mum of five Katie, who cancelled an appearance in Manchester, told how the threat had left her in fear.
She said: “I’m terrified. This is clearly a blackmail threat, and I need to be at home with my family.”
A source close to Katie added: “This is all the more horrifying for Katie because she has experienced threats against her children before.
“On three separate occasions she has had to get the police involved.
“The thought of anyone harming the kids sickens her to the core, and until the police have caught the perpetrator, she feels she just can’t leave them.
“Katie is really shaken by this and is hoping against hope that the police catch this person as soon as possible.
“She knows they will be living in fear until they do.”
She later took to her Twitter page to tell fans she was on "mummy guard" following her horror 24 hours.
The former glamour model proved her resilient streak to the world as she took to Twitter to post: "In bed can't sleep my poor little head can't switch off! I'm on mummy guard too."
Her fans were quick to offer reassurance, with one posting: "typical mummy bear protecting her cubs xxx."
Another commented: "Bless some people don’t realise the upset & worry they cause hope they catch the idiot," while a third put: "Keep strong Katie we are all behind you XXX no body beats the pricey XXX all my love."
The blackmail attempt was linked to an address in Romford, East London.
A woman who answered the door at the council house denied any knowledge of the threat.
Katie’s local force Sussex Police confirmed they are investigating and have told the family to stay together at all times.
Last year Katie told ITV’s Loose Women how Harvey, 15, had been targeted before.
She said: “I’ve been through kidnapping threats a few times and it is terrifying — £1million ransoms and stuff.
"I’ve got panic buttons.”
