Bake Off’s Prue Leith BANNED from Dancing On Ice on health grounds – with bosses deciding between Hollyoaks beauties for final spot

GREAT British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has been banned from taking part in the brand new series of Dancing On Ice due to concerns for her safety.

The baking aficionado, 77, was keen to take part in the series, beginning in early 2018, but she has now been overruled her own management team - with three different Hollyoaks beauties now in the frame to take her spot.

Prue has fast become a favourite with TV fans after stepping into Mary Berry's role on Channel 4's version of The Great British Bake Off, alongside returning judge Paul Hollywood.

But while she knows all their is to know about iced buns, the South Africa native admitted she has not been allowed to make the transition into an ice dancer.

The mum-of-two told The Daily Star on Sunday: “I was asked if I would do Dancing On Ice. I thought it’d be the perfect way to get fit, lose a lot of weight and learn a new skill.

“I was actually quite excited, but my team said, ‘Absolutely not’."

She added: “They told me I was far too old and if I fell over I would break something – and then I thought they were probably right.”

Hollyoaks’ most glamorous leading ladies Stephanie Waring, Sarah Jayne Dunn and Anna Passey are instead the frame to join the ITV contest alongside confirmed stars Kem Cetinay and Monty Panesar.

But that may not mean we never see Prue strutting her stuff on TV as she has not ruled out doing Strictly, as long as she was allowed to drink booze before her "nan-dancing".

Prue said: "Maybe Strictly, as that is less dangerous [than Dancing On Ice]. I’m not a very good dancer though.

"The only time I dance is after a few drinks, so I would have to have a few drinks before the performance. Even then it would just be nan-dancing.”

But Debbie McGee could not be accused of nan-dancing on Strictly this series despite being almost 60 years old and has also been seen getting cosy with her much younger partner Giovanni Pernice.

Still, maybe Prue is better off where she is at least for now as she's been given the seal of approval by Mary Berry for her Bake Off work.

She needs to keep fighting Paul and his handshakes for airtime, though, after one episode saw her appear for a mere three minutes.
