Towie’s Ruby Lacey and Maddie Hooper face being dropped from show after bosses discover they were trying to cover up secret boyfriends

TOWIE newcomers Ruby Lacey and Maddie Hooper face being dropped after just one series on the ITVBe show.

The girls were billed as the series’ “sexy new singletons” during the their debut in Marbella this summer.

But The Sun’s Bizarre column can reveal the pair have boyfriends which has seen their screen time grind to a halt.

Ruby irked bosses by banning a storyline about her kissing castmember Jordan Brook in order to protect her secret romance.

A TV insider said: “Bosses had high hopes for Ruby and Maddie and thought they would bring some drama to the show.

“It was understood that they were both single when filming started but producers soon realised they that they had boyfriends.

“Ruby kissed Jordan one night – but she wouldn’t let the storyline come to screen because her romance.

“Their roles have now be so severely reduced that they will just play the part as extras in nightclub and party scenes."

The pals joined the line-up this summer in replacement of show favourites Kate Wright and Lydia Bright – but have since barely spoken on camera.

They came in as close friends of Georgia Kousoulou, who films most her scenes with boyfriend Tommy Mallet.

Instead this series has focused on Amber Turner and the ups and downs in her romance with Dan Edgar.

In Sunday night's episode Amber confronted Dan over rumours he had been with other girls – and he didn't deny the claims..
