Chris Hemsworth reveals wife Elsa Pataky saved his life after he fell ill with altitude sickness during a three day hike
HOLLYWOOD hunk Chris Hemsworth revealed how a mountain hiking excursion almost turned fatal.
Despite being a superhero in the Marvel films, it was his wife Elsa who came to the rescue.
CHRIS Hemsworth has revealed how his wife Elsa Pataky saved his life during a three-day mountain hike.
Despite Chris being best known for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was Elsa who turned out to be the real superhero on their daring adventure.
Speaking to , Chris revealed: "We went on this three-day hike through the mountains.
"We were a few thousand metres above sea level and my body just wasn't acclimatising and adjusting to the change.
"I started becoming really short of breath, I had fluid in my lungs and I was trying to ignore it. I was going to sleep and my wife listened to me breathe, she could hear it in my chest, and said, 'I think something is wrong.'
Despite Chris protesting that he was in fine health, Elsa refused to listen and called for a medic.
Chris explained: "She got up and told the guard we were with and he came in and looked at me and said, 'Oh god. We have got to get you off the mountain.' So they strapped me up to oxygen and injected something in me and drove me down the mountain and let me body sort of acclimatise and adjust.
"Apparently if I was up there for another few hours, it could have gone drastically bad.
"I am lucky my wife was there to slap some sense into me... She was the hero. I was in distress, I needed to be saved."
Chris will once again take the lead role in Thor: Ragnarok which is to be released in cinemas on Tuesday 24 October.
His co-star Mark Ruffalo - who will reprise his role as the Hulk - made a major blunder at the world premiere by accidentally livestreaming the first ten minutes of the film.
The actor left his Instagram livestream running in his pocket as the movie began, allowing fans to hear the audio from the beginning of the movie.
The stream was inundated with comments from disbelieving fans who loved getting a sneak insight into the much-anticipated superhero flick.
Once Ruffalo realised something was amiss, he gave his camera a sheepish look before quickly ending the stream for good. One fan wote: "Omg. This is so funny."
