Blue reveal the truth about their bankruptcy – saying they were forced into it after management sued them all individually
BOYBAND Blue has revealed the truth about their bankruptcy for the first time during an appearance on This Morning.
Promoting their new book, Our Story, the boys – Lee Ryan, Simon Webbe, Duncan James and Antony Costa, admitted they had to declare themselves bankrupt for business reasons after they were all sued individually by their former management.
Lee was the final member of the band to go bankrupt in 2015 after reportedly blowing a £10 million fortune following huge hits All Rise, One Love and Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word.
Speaking about the situation, Simon said: “When people say the word bankruptcy, people think you have no money.
"It was a certain situation where we chose to go down that route for business reasons.”
While Lee, who now appears in EastEnders, revealed: “We called the album Roulette and we lost.”
In 2013 Blue released their fourth studio album called Roulette, which they funded themselves.
Unfortunately it failed to set the charts alight and the group all ended up losing money.
Duncan revealed: “We actually were sued by management and in that situation when you are faced with that as a company, we liquidated the company but then he went after each of us, because we are directors of the company, individually for a lot of money.
“In that case it is like, ‘What do you do?’”
Anthony admitted it was an incredibly hard time and he discovered what was happening while the band were on tour with Ant and Dec on Saturday Night Takeaway.

At the time he had just had a baby and things started spiralling from there.
The group are now back on their feet, with Anthony revealing: “We have just come out of it now as group – it’s taken three years.”
Lee added that the band have managed to get through it all by sticking with each other.
He told Phillip and Holly: “We have stuck by each other. There are not many founding members of a band left.
“We have come through this together. We have said we will get this through together.”
Meanwhile Lee revealed he ‘hated’ writing their book because it bought up so many painful memories.
He said: “I hated doing this book. It was horrible, I burst out crying halfway through it. ‘Digging up old dust, and talking about rehab… I just didn’t find it a very pleasurable experience.”
And he revealed these days he’s a very different man, saying: “You’ve got to drag me out these days, I like staying at home with my kids.
“The lifestyle we led in the younger days… Half of it I can’t even remember. I was reading stuff and saying “Did that really happen?” It was a good time for him [the old Lee], back there.”
