Who is Phill Jupitus?

Phillip Christopher Jupitus, 56, was born June 1962.

He is an English stand-up and improv comedian, actor, performance poet, cartoonist and podcaster.

He is most known for being a team captain on BBC Two's music quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks from 1996 until 2015.

He also appears regularly as a guest on several other panel shows, including QI and BBC Radio 4's I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.

Phill has also had radio shows on BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio 4 and and BBC Radio 2.

What did Phill say about Sean Hughes' death?

Phill's Never Mind the Buzzcocks co-star Sean Hughes passed away aged 51 on October 15, 2017, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Phill paid tribute to his friend.

He said: "I keep looking at this photo. It feels like a lifetime ago. Another life even.

‘I gigged with Sean a bunch before Buzzcocks. T&C mostly. Funny, dry, off kilter, always asking more questions than he ever answered.

"I loved it when he dropped serious poems into his comedy set. No warning. No apology.";
