Coronation Street star Bruno Langley will be quizzed by police over sexual assault claims made to ITV
CORONATION Street star Bruno Langley will be quizzed by detectives over a sexual assault complaint a woman made to ITV.
Greater Manchester Police last night confirmed they are investigating an alleged incident at Manchester’s Band on the Wall nightclub.
The actor, 34 — Todd Grimshaw in the soap — is understood to have been with several show cast members watching former colleague Craig Charles’ DJ set at the venue.
The woman, in her 30s, claims he acted inappropriately, which the actor vehemently denies.
Earlier in the evening, at around 11pm, Bruno posted a photograph of himself on his Instagram profile at the city's nearby Mahiki nightclub.
Dressed in a smart suit and tie the soap star posed for photographs at the swanky venue — a newly opened spin-off the popular London celebrity haunt.
A source said: “Bruno will now be spoken to by the police and ITV have been made aware they are investigating the incident.
“He’s very upset at the allegations but the police are treating the matter very seriously and have formally become involved.
“At this stage, everything is very unclear and, of course, Bruno needs the opportunity to respond to what has been claimed, so nobody is jumping to any conclusions.
“But the feeling is that it makes things easier to rearrange filming, on an informal basis, so the matter can be resolved away from the show.”
On Saturday, The Sun told how ITV bosses had been made aware of the claims, but police were not thought to be investigating at that stage.
Now officers are expected to look at CCTV footage and speak to witnesses.
A GMP spokeswoman confirmed: “At around 1am on Sunday, 1st October 2017, police received a report a woman in her 30s had been sexually assaulted at an entertainment venue. Inquires are ongoing and no arrests have been made.”
A Coronation Street spokeswoman declined to comment.
