The X Factor mogul was stretchered out of his mansion in a neck brace after an ambulance was called at 8am this morning.

He underwent tests at a London hospital while awake and in a stable condition.

We can now reveal Simon was alone in his mansion with three-year-old son Eric and a security guard when the accident took place.

He was seen giving photographers the thumbs-up as he returned home later today.

Simon is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

He has experienced ill health this summer when he was forced to pull out of X Factor's London auditions with a mystery illness.

He also missed his own charity ball in June last year when he was struck down by flu.

Since his beloved mother Julie died aged 89 in July 2015, the music mogul has health tests twice a year to ensure his heart, lungs and blood are in good working order.

In 2012, he admitted in he was “paralysed with tiredness” and his “immune system was failing” due to the stress of combining huge TV roles in the UK and the US.

His biographer Tom Bower revealed in his book Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life Of Simon Cowell, doctors warned Simon to quit smoking, stop taking health supplements and give his body a break.

“I have to get back to where I was years ago. I have to stop reading texts at three in the morning and making calls later and later.”

Simon arrived home looking dazed and unsteady on his feet seven hours after paramedics took him to hospital.
