Great British Bake Off beauty Candice Brown finally confirms her engagement to Liam Macaulay
GREAT British Bake Off winner Candice Brown has announced her engagement to her partner Liam Macaulay.
The talented baker first sparks rumours of an engagement after she won the BBC show last year, but the pair proved this is the real deal by flaunting her ring in a magazine photoshoot.
Speaking about her happy news to , Candice explained: "I get emotional. Because it's been such an amazing year. I feel very lucky.
"I've had such incredible opportunities – GBBO opened so many doors – and to top it off he puts a ring on it.'
Explaining how Liam popped the question, Candice revealed he took them back to the location where they had their first date in Bedfordshire.
Candice recalled: "He reached into the glove compartment, got out the ring, got down on one knee and said, 'I love you, you are my world. Will you marry me?'
Liam added: "So I proposed in a car park. But it really meant something to us. Candice just cried for five minutes before she could say, 'Yes!'"
Back in January, The Sun exclusively revealed Liam, 31, was already planning to tie the knot with his stunning 32-year-old partner.
Liam made his declaration to after accompanying the former PE teacher, to the National Television Awards.
He said: “Yes of course we are going to get married. We already have a pug together — that’s the ultimate sign of commitment.
"A number of our relatives have been having weddings lately, so the pressure is on.”
The couple live in Bedford and Candice has described Liam as “my biggest fan”.
She added: “He is such a support. I’m very, very lucky to have him.”
But a year before they met in April 2012, Liam was serving 16 months in jail for dealing cannabis.
He and an accomplice were arrested with £7,000 worth of drug as they drove from Edinburgh to Inverness in 2009.
