Louis Walsh reveals he doesn’t want to follow in Bruce Forsyth’s footsteps and be on TV into old age
LOUIS Walsh has ruled out being on TV for another 10 years as he ‘doesn’t want to be like Bruce Forsyth.’
The X Factor favourite, 65, has confirmed he’ll be back for the next series of the X Factor, but he isn’t looking too much further ahead.
He told the : “I’m enjoying doing X Factor and I’ve signed up to do next year. But 10 more years? I don’t want to be like Bruce Forsyth! I don’t want to be that old and still be on TV.”
“This doesn’t feel like work. I don’t know when I’ll retire yet.”
Turning his attention to the battle for Saturday night supremacy against rival Strictly Come Dancing – the show on which Brucie ended his career – Louis was full of praise.
“Older people watch Strictly,” said the Irishman. “It’s a good and entertaining show. I think it’s a very safe show. It’s easy to watch and get the feelgood factor. And, of course, they don’t have any adverts like we do.”
Louis lost one of his acts on tonight’s X Factor.
Leon Mallet became the third hopeful to be voted off the show, failing to impress with his version of Get Lucky.
Opening the first ever Latino week, Jack and Joel performed Camila Cabello’s smash hit Havana, but were criticised by their own mentor.
Simon described them as “a little bit puppety,” but Sharon countered: “Joel, the way you move is so cute. It’s geeky but it’s cute. You couldn’t get more current than that song, so well done.”
They were followed by Lloyd Macey, who sang a powerful version of Enrique Iglesias’ Hero.
The Cutkelvins take on CNCO’s Hey DJ received a mixed response form the judges. On one hand they were effusive in their praise of lead singer Shereen, on the other they wanted more from her brothers.
Sharon enthused: “Shereen you are a star misses, you really are.”
Rak Su wrote their own Latin anthem during the week, and had Simon on his feet with their performance.
Sharon called it “tremendous”, while Nicole claimed they could have a number one hit on their hands.
Simon joked: “I just wished you were a bit better looking.”
He then added: “Even my son is obsessed with you. He wants to be in Rak Su.”
Sam Black had a hard time following the boys.
Simon accused his version of La Bamba of being dated and blamed the lad’s mentor Louis Walsh.
He vented: “This was so irrelevant and so dated I don’t know how this was going to help you be what you want to be.”
But Sam said he was happy with it and just wanted to have fun after a nervy first week.
Meanwhile, Britain’s Got Talent winner Tokio Myers performed his debut single and blew the audience away with his passion.
