Strictly Come Dancing fans blame Craig Revel Horwood for Aston Merrygold’s shock elimination after scoring him four points as they accuse him of ‘ruining the show’
FURIOUS Strictly Come Dancing fans have blamed Craig Revel Horwood for Aston Merrygold's shock elimination and insist he has "ruined" the series.
Viewers were left stunned during last night's results show when the popular JLS singer was voted off the after finding himself in the dreaded dance off against The Saturdays' Mollie King.
While Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli voted to save Aston, Craig and head judge Shirley Ballas opted to send him home, leaving fans furious, and producers "horrified".
Many took to Twitter to direct their rage at Craig, 52, blaming him for giving Aston a shockingly low 4 on Saturday night for the eventual outcome.
One wrote: "@CraigRevHorwood A 4 from Aston - really - the same as Ruth!! That was a disgrace! You caused Aston to be danger in mid table! You have ruined this series."
A fellow viewer agreed, writing: "@CraigRevHorwood @ShirleyBallas you've ruined @bbcstrictly this year. Aston should have been judged on ability not style or choreography!"
A third added: "@AstonMerrygold should NOT have been voted off @bbcstrictly yesterday. @CraigRevHorwood should never have made such an #absurd decision".
One viewer even called for Craig to be sacked, writing: "Still undermarked which led to them being in the bottom, @CraigRevHorwood @ShirleyBallas #fired pls."
Craig has always been known for his harsh critique of the celebrities taking part in the show, and this series has been no exception.
But many felt he went too far with his comments and low score for Aston, who had been excelling in the competition until this weekend.
One viewer wrote: "@CraigRevHorwood #Strictly v poor judgement re Aston. That unjustified 4 sent him out. Lost respect 4u & show."
Another added: "@CraigRevHorwood so unfair on Aston, Janette should have kept it more traditional, his technique wasn't perfect but ur 4 finished him."
And a third wrote: "@CraigRevHorwood picks up on every illegal lift, unless of course it's in a dance off and you choose to ignore it. Comical".
Others insisted Craig appear on TV - most likely spin off show It Takes Two - to try and justify his reasoning for giving Aston a four.
One viewer tweeted: "@CraigRevHorwood #Strictly Please come on TV and explain how you award Ruth the same score as Aston. Genuinely confused viewer."
Another posted: "You should be ashamed. ur score of 4 was complete joke! @AstonMerrygold isn't a professionally trained dancer unlike Debbie who u worship."
Indeed, some felt Craig's score was tactical to make the path to the final easier for Debbie McGee, who he scored a perfect 10 after bowing down at her feet.
One viewer tweeted: "@CraigRevHorwood nice bit of tactical voting from Craig Saturday to get @AstonMerrygold off the show lol."
Viewers were already branding the result a fix, with one posting: "WHY HAS ASTON LEFT STRICTLY?!?!?!? HES ONE OF THE BEST IM FURIOUS, FIX FIX FIX."
Another put: "Well strictly has reached a new low sending Ashton home !!!!! It’s a bloody fix," as a third wrote: "Disgusted and appalled with Strictly. Aston lite up the programme. A total fix."
Another raged: "Absolute joke! The whole show, Debbie getting 40, Aston leaving. FIX FIX FIX."
One then made reference to Aston's band's colour-coordination and wrote: "Everyone fish out your blue JLS hoodies, we’re going on a riot 😤 #Strictly what a fix," as one wailed: "FIX. FIX. FIX. FIX. FIX. Aston shouldn’t have left 😭😭😭😭. #strictly."
