Strictly Come Dancing’s Davood Ghadami reveals he was forced to change schools due to racist bullying hell

DAVOOD Ghadami has opened up about his tough past as he revealed he was mercilessly bullied during high school.

The Strictly Come Dancing contestant admitted he was forced to stop going to one school because he was targeted so much.

The actor explained to the that he first began acting in the theatre to shake off his shyness.

Davood, who is of Iranian and British descent, found it difficult to grow up as a mixed race child in Harlow, Essex.

He explained: "At the time there were fewer people of mixed backgrounds in schools. I wasn’t involved in anything physical but name-calling can be harder hitting when you’re a young lad.

“There were times it got too much I didn’t want to go to school any more.”

Davood continued: “I started somewhere­ new and it was much more accepting. But I hope bullying ’s now being dealt with far better than when I was young.”

He then turned to acting and it helped restore his shattered confidence.

Davood explained that acting became an "outlet" and allowed him to "play a different role".

He continued: “If you’d told me then I’d be doing what I’m doing now, I’d have called you a liar.”

Davood has become a household name thanks to his role in EastEnders.

He joined the soap in in 2014 and plays Kush Kazemi.

The star is now winning over even more fans as he continues to compete in Strictly Come Dancing.

Davood and Nadiya Bychkova will do the Charleston to The Lambeth Walk by The Pasadena Roof Orchestra this weekend.

Meanwhile Davood won Sexiest Male at the annual awards, which were recently held at the Hippodrome Casino in London.
