X FACTOR star Kyle Cutkelvin has revealed that he has a nine-month-old son.
The 23-year-old Scotsman, who is currently on the ITV talent show alongside his brother Jay and sister Shereen, has opened up for the first time about his youngster, Jayden-Lucas, who he has kept quiet about until now.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online about why he’s remained silent about the little one he said: “To be honest we’ve just really been concentrating on our music so far, and there’s never been any questions about it that came up so, I just thought it was time.
However the singer admitted that the pain of being separated from his lad is taking its toll.
He said: “I’ve just been feeling a bit homesick about him, so I just want to be talking about him a bit more.”
Kyle will be reunited with his son before tonight’s live show for the first time in over a month - after his obligations to the show have seen him relocate to the X Factor mansion in London with his fellow competitors.
“It’s actually been really difficult because I’m used to spending almost every day with him” he explained.
“But I can’t because of the X Factor, so this has the longest I’ve been away from him.”
Thankfully, his other half has been keeping the star up to date with Jayden-Lucas’ progress - and been sending him videos of the tot watching him on TV to keep him close.
“I’ve actually got a video of him watching when we were doing the auditions in his walker, and he runs up to the TV and trying to grab the television,” beamed Kyle, adding: “Simon gave us a bad comment in the auditions and his face is so screwed up!”
“He’s such a little character. You can definitely tell he’s one of us, he’s no nonsense!”
However, as his homesickness has taken hold, the star has found an ally and confidante in hopeful Sam Black - who also has a child back home.
Kyle revealed: “Me and Sam have been talking a lot recently because he’s basically in exactly the same situation as me at the moment.
“So whenever I need to cool down we go for a wee talk and have a wee chat and 10 minutes later I’m feeling better.
“We just need to remember that we’re doing it for our kids at the end of the day, that’s what we keep saying.”
Despite his homesickness now, Kyle has said that he isn’t worried about future tours with the band and his ability to keep Jayden-Lucas close.
He said: “I’m not worried about it. I just need to remember at the back of my mind that we need to focus on it now in order to give him a good life.”
“If the opportunity arises then [I’ll] definitely [bring him on tour]. But obviously I know it’s going to be quite busy on tour and he’s quite young just now, he’s only 9 months old so, which is a good thing and a bad thing at the same time.
“He’s so young he’s not really going to remember it when he grows up. But definitely if I get the opportunity to bring him on tour, I’m going to want him there watching us.”
