NICOLE Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne were slammed by X Factor fans this evening as they appeared to wear their poppies on the wrong side.
Traditionally the poppy is worn on the left lapel, to keep it close to your heart, but tonight, on Armistice Day, judges Nicole and Sharon wore theirs on the right.
Those watching at home weren’t impressed by the poppy blunder and took to Twitter to comment on it.
One person wrote: “#XFactor sharon and Nicole the poppy should be worn on the left.”
While another commented: “Someone needs to tell Nicole Scherzinger on #xfactor that the poppy should be worn on the left.”
And someone else added: “@NicoleScherzy Wear the poppy the correct way or not at all #XFactor.”
People often chose to wear the poppy on the left, as it also marks the symbol’s military origins, as this is the side medals are worn by the Armed forces.
However, women often wear it on the right and the Royal British Legion has said there is no right or wrong side "other than to wear it with pride".
Last week Nicole’s poppy was missing when she first appeared on screen but appeared after an ad break.
A spokesperson for the show told Digital Spy at the time: "Nicole's poppy fell off her outfit on the walk to the stage.
"She was alerted during the recording and put a poppy on during the break.
"Nicole has been wearing a poppy over the past week, including the Saturday show."
While Nicole tweeted: “I’m always late, it fell off running to stage and replaced it as soon as we could! I have the upmost respect for everything it stands for! [sic].”
Poppies are worn as a mark of respect and recognition to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the First World War and the conflicts that followed.
