JACK and Joel have lost their place on the X Factor, despite Nicole Scherzinger saying Jack sounded just like George Micheal.

The duo, who were a wildcard,  received the least number of public votes after performing The Edge of Heaven on Saturday night’s show, as part of George Michael week.

Speaking after discovering they were going, Jack Remington and Joel Fishel, both 22, said:  “We have had the best time. Everyone is phenomenal.

“We are still discovering who we are as artists.”

The act with the most votes and the Saturday night champion was Kevin Davey White, who performed Fastlove, PT.1. He will be in for a chance to win the prize tomorrow night, which is the chance to open for Little Mix on tour.

The Cutkelvins, Matt , Rak-Su  and Sean and Conor Price are all safe, after Simon Cowell decided that just one act would go tonight and then another tomorrow night in a surprise twist.

Jack and Joel's exit comes as a bit of shock after they won praise from the judges after their performance, with Nicole saying Jack sounded just like George Michael.

She told them: “You sounded Wham-azing.  I just wanted to say Jack that when I closed my eyes I thought George Michael was in the room.”

Louis agreed saying: “You are like a modern day… Wham I suppose. I can see you having a great future in television.”

Sharon added: “I don’t think you were born when this song came out but it really suited you.”

While Simon was also full of praise, telling them:  “I think this theme is perfect for you. You look like you were having fun. This is the best you have been so far.”

Meanwhile on the show, Rak-Su caused a stir as they performed George Michael’s Faith – adding their own rap.

Despite dividing opinion amongst viewers, the judges gave them plenty of praise.

The Cutkelvins performed a song once covered by George Michael, Killer/Pappa Was A Rollin' Stone, as a tribute to their late father.

Nicole’s contestant Matt Linnen delighted fans and the judges with his version of Careless Whisper.

Nicole, who enjoyed a night out with him this week, said: “I am so proud of you tonight.  You came out like a superhero. You came out so fearless. I can tell you are fighting.

Sean and Conor Price won praise with their version of Freedom! '90, with Simon comparing them to his two dogs.

But it was Kevin Davey White who stole the show with his version of.  Fastlove, PT.1.

Simon told him: “That was by far the best performance of the night.

“This is actually quite annoying Nicole, but respect to you. That was a moment.”

Nicole added: “It was one of the best performances I have ever witnessed on this stage.”
