I’m A Celebrity’s hilariously awkward moment as Declan Donnelly jokes about where Ant McPartlin spent his summer
DECLAN Donnelly put co-host Ant McPartlin on the spot on tonight's I'm a Celebrity when he asked where he'd been all summer.
The presenter entered rehab to deal with his addiction to prescription medication earlier this year, and while some wondered how the duo would address the situation during the opening show, they needn't have worried.

During one link, the pair discussed a model of the camp they had on the table.
Ant pretended to be unimpressed by the replica, saying: "That's it is it? We've been off air a year, a whole year and that's what you've done? That's all you've done?
"Eh? A whole year to make that! It's rubbish man!"
As he nudged it, Dec stepped in and said, "Don't be rough with it, I spent all summer making that, all summer that took me.

"No help from this one".
As he spoke, Ant sheepishly picked up his mug and drank from it, giving a little laugh.
Dec continued: "Where were you all summer? What were you doing?"
Ant pretended to choke on his drink and shrugged as Dec continued to badger him about his whereabouts.

"Just stuff" Ant replied, "I was just dead busy, dead busy".
He then distracted himself with the kangaroo on his mug before adding in a silly voice: "Go to VT".

Fans were loving their banter - which had started at the beginning of the show with another quip from Dec - taking to Twitter to praise them for dealing with the situation head on.
One wrote: "Dec getting that rehab elephant out the room quick" alongside crying with laughter emojis.

Another wrote: "Dec asking Ant where he's been all summer hahaha I bloody love them" while a third added: "Nice seeing Ant can take a joke about being in rehab".
The praise just kept on coming, with another viewer tweeting: "Love how Ant & Dec can joke about rehab, glad to see them back brill presenters."

He then told them to go to VT as the 'awkward' exchange endedA fellow fan of the Geordie duo added: "Love that Ant and Dec aren't hiding the fact that Ant was ill this summer. Proper best friends having banter and joking about it."
A third agreed, writing: "Dec being absolutely brutal, best presenters by a mile!" while a fourth said: "yooo Dec calling Ant out on tv is what im living for, only pair that could banter about being in rehab and the public still love em [sic]".
