X Factor’s Matt Linnen says he needs to find another job to make money for his kids after axe
The newly-booted star has revealed that while he's not giving up on his music dreams any time soon, he needs to "get real" for the sake of his children.
MATT Linnen has revealed that now he's left the X Factor he's having to "get real" about his future in the music industry for the sake of his children.
The gravel-voiced singer was eliminated on Saturday night, coming 6th in the series and falling just short of the final.
He had previously said that he was going to pack in singing altogether if he failed to make it on the ITV talent show, but now he's left, he's revealed he hasn't given up on his dream just yet.
Speaking to The Sun Online, Matt said: "That must’ve come from somewhere but I won’t ever give up music.
"What I think I said was I recently had to get real about life because I’ve always pursued music, and I want my kids to be left stuff when I’m gone.
"I don’t own anything, and I’ve got nothing and I think you make that sacrifice as a musician."
The 28-year-old crooner is a father to three children, who have supported their dad throughout the process - despite one of his sons admitting he wanted competitor Kevin Davy White to win instead.
But now his time on the show is over, it appears that he may return to his former life as a plasterer while he waits for his music career to take off.
He told us: "I won’t say I’ll give music up, but I’ll be less driven in terms of my music because… but I mean after this show I’m going to put out music and carry on, because it’s a great platform I’ve got and hopefully got some fans out there now who will buy my music and come to my gigs.
"So I’m going to do that and see how that goes."
Matt performed for the final time on the X Factor show on Saturday, taking on rock classic Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones.
At his elimination, he thanked everyone who voted for him in the competition and said this was "only the start" of his music career".
