The Crown’s Matt Smith quips ‘beautiful’ Meghan Markle and ‘the Don’ Prince Harry will soon ‘make babies’ as he reveals he wants him to become King
CROWN star Matt Smith is more than used to the Royal lifestyle and has given his cheeky blessing to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement - saying the pair will soon be "making babies".
The screen star takes on the role of Harry's real life grandfather, Prince Philip, in the online period drama and spoke about the pair's impending nuptials on today's Good Morning Britain.
Yesterday, to the delight of the nation, it was announced by the Prince of Wales that his youngest son was set to wed next year, in a happy Twitter message sent from the Clarence House account.
In a chat aired on today's ITV breakfast show Matt, who will resume his role in The Crown's second series, referred to their romance and said: "I think if he loves her, and he wants to go for it, why not.
"He's a handsome guy, she's a beautiful lady.
"They will make babies together!"
The London-born actor, 34, who himself is loved-up with Downton Abbey star girlfriend Lily James, continued he wanted to see Harry become regal head of Great Britain.
He added: "Good luck to them, I love Harry.
"I kind of want him to be king, I think he's a don."
Meanwhile more details of the happy couple's 2018 wedding are set to emerge today.
Yesterday, the Twitter message which revealed they were engaged read: "His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle and engaged to be married.
"The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.
"His Royal Highness and Ms Markle became engaged in London earlier this month...
"The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace."
In a statement from Prince Charles, it was revealed that Harry proposed earlier in November, and sought and received the blessing of Meghan's parents.
