JANET Street Porter has taken a swipe at Meghan Markle today and declared she will be “bland like Kate Middleton in three years time.”

Speaking on Loose Women abut the royal engagement, Janet staunchly refused to join the rest of the country in their excitement about Prince Harry popping the question to the American actor and humanitarian.

Dismissing 36-year-old Meghan’s comparatively humble background, Janet said: “Look how Kate has turned out, she indistinguishable from the rest of the royal family, she’s been put through the treatment and take my word for it, lovely Meghan will be put through it.”

In fact Janet’s Netflix binges seem to have left her with the impression that Meghan won’t be the exciting royal that she looks set to be.

She continued: “We’ve all watched The Crown on Netflix, we’ve seen the protocol, we’ve seen the frosty silences, the courtiers lurking in the corridors making sure you don’t take one step out of line.

“I guarantee in three years time she will have been given the Duchess of Cambridge treatment and she will be bland.”

Despite slating her, Janet did manage to give Meghan some credit for bagging a younger man in 33-year-old Harry.

Meanwhile the Duchess of Cornwall said she is "absolutely thrilled" by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement as she visited a museum today.

"It's such exciting news.
