I’m A Celebrity’s Jack Maynard apologises for vile rape tweets in series of new posts
JACK Maynard has apologised for a sick rape tweets he made in 2011.
Taking to Twitter this afternoon to address the inappropriate post, he wrote: "I have taken some time to reflect on the comments, tweets and ultimately my behaviour in the past, including a tweet sent in 2011 that is the subject of a story today...
"I was young, naive and stupid – but as I said previously, age is no excuse. My immaturity meant that I didn't stop for a second to think whether these comments would hurt or harm anyone - something I have learnt is entirely wrong.
"If I had just thought for a moment, about how stupid they were, I would never have sent them. Nothing can justify the language I used, there is no defence – I am truly sorry. My childish attitude back then is not a representation of my thoughts and feelings now.
"I take full responsibility and regret my mistakes. As an adult, I understand the effect my words have on people, whether I have a big or small platform to speak from. Again, I am so sorry to anyone I have offended or disappointed."
The vlogger, 23, was axed from the jungle last week after The Sun revealed he had begged a 14-year-old fan to send him nude photos when he was 16.
Now it has emerged the YouTube star, who has a big audience with young girls, said he would “rape” anyone who helped him get more Twitter followers.
The full post, sent on November 11, 2011 when Jack was 16, said: “If you get me to 1500 followers by tomorrow… I will kiss you……. Most likely rape you though.”
In another tweet, from earlier in the same year, Jack replied to a fan simply adding: “I raped her... haha.”
The Sun understands that Jack, who now has more than 1.2million subscribers on his YouTube channel, only deleted the offending tweets after a young fan aged just eight told him to.
A source said: “These tweets really are unforgivable from Jack.
“To joke about such a serious subject shows a real lack of awareness from him, particularly given the fact so many of his fans are impressionable young girls.
“He cannot use age as an excuse either. It doesn’t matter how old you are when it comes to joking about rape.
“He only deleted the tweets after a young girl, who was aged just eight at the time, messaged her hero asking him to take them down.”
