KATIE Price broke down in tears and had to leave the Loose Women panel as she broke down over her mother Amy's terminal illness.
She appeared on the show to speak about how the late Keith Chegwin contacted her to try and help her mum who suffers from the same terminal lung condition as he did.
Katie broke down in tears shortly after the start of the show as she revealed the reality of her mums condition had hit home after Keith's death yesterday.
She said: "IPA [idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis] isn't well known and there should be more awareness because once you're diagnosed, it's too late. It's an incurable lung disease - no one knows how you get it...hang on."
Janet Street Porter said: "Your mum was on the show to talk about it wasn't she?" and Katie added: "Yeah but it didn't really hit me then."
She continued: "Keith got in touch and we'd been speaking to him a lot and he was trying to help my mum. I knew all along about Keith but I never said it to anyone and I can't believe that within six months he's gone."
Katie put her head in her hands as she struggled to contain her tears and said: "The thing is my mum is going to die, I just don't want her to die."
Ruth gave her a hug as Katie added: "She's getting worse, she's having to sell her house now because she can't get up..."
Katie then apologised saying: "I knew I should have done [the show]."
Janet said: "You came on the show because you wanted people to understand that if they have a cough, it can be quite serious because your mum had a cough for a long time didn't she?"
Katie replied: "Yeah my mum had a cough for about five years, they thought it was asthma, then a few months ago she had a cold...how can my mum die?
"It might be my last Christmas with her.
"She's so healthy, never smoked, she works out all the time...I just want to raise awareness and I said I'd do the London marathon.
"But the thing is I couldn't see her for a few weeks and she didn't understand why and I just said because I can't bear seeing you knowing I'm not going to see you grow old.
"You won't see Harvey's 18th birthday, all the kids...how can my mum die?
"I love my mum so much...I can't do this, can I go?"
It all became too much for her and Ruth Langsford had to lead her off the show.
Speaking after the break, Ruth said: "She wanted to come on today and talk about Keith's condition and raise awareness... "Unfortunately as you saw she couldn't cope talking about her mum so she's gone off and we've got her a cup of tea and we are going to continue the show without her."
