Why Paul Hollywood WON’T be watching The Great British Bake Off this Christmas
The TV heart throb says he's critical about the way he looks
It’s a time for celebration in The Great British Bake Off tent as not one but two Christmas specials see eight former contestants return and try to cook their way to the coveted Star Baker crowns.
Although he’s judging both shows, Paul Hollywood won’t be tuning in.
“I can never watch the Bake Off,” he admits. “Unless you’re comfortable with yourself, you become too critical about the way you look, the way you sound. The only shows I can watch with me are when cars are in them because I’m watching the cars, not me.”
So what is his festive telly viewing?
“I love listening to the King’s College choir,” says Paul.
“And I love the carol services in Canterbury Cathedral – my son Josh’s school have the King’s choir there and they’re pretty good.
“I also like movies such as The Polar Express. And I still dress as Santa – my niece is 10 so I do that for her now.”
Paul and his wife Alex recently announced their split after nearly 20 years of marriage, so this Christmas will have its own challenges.
But there is one thing Paul does without fail on Christmas Day before he can truly relax.
“My job is washing-up,” says Paul.
“There is nothing worse than eating Christmas dinner then realising you’ve still got all the washing-up to do!”
