Who died in the Emmerdale car crash? Chrissie White and father Lawrence killed in lorry smash
Emmerdale fans have been left heartbroken after the White family crashed into an oncoming lorry
EMMERDALE fans have been left heartbroken after Chrissie and Lawrence White were killed in a horrific car crash.
The White family ploughed head-on into oncoming traffic after Chrissie's son Lachlan reached for the wheel and turned it towards a lorry. Here's everything you need to know about what happened.
Who died in the Emmerdale car crash?
Chrissie (Louise Marwood) and her father Lawrence White (John Bowe) have been killed after a dramatic car crash that has also left Rebecca (Emily Head) in critical condition.
After finding out that his mum interfered in his relationship with Belle, Lachlan began to break down.
He told Chrissie that he felt that no one would ever love him, all save Belle.
He recited one of the songs that she used to sing him as a child.
"Sleep tight now because mummy's here, to make all the monsters disappear." He continued, "but it was you - you were the monster, you always were."
Lawrence told his grandson that if they were meant to be together she would visit him in Australia.
Lachlan responded dramatically: "I'm sorry granddad but we're not going to Australia." He turned his gaze to Chrissie. "Make all the monsters disappear."
He then reached for the wheel of the car and spun it towards the oncoming lorry.
Lachlan's grandfather was killed after he was flung from the vehicle - he had undone his seat belt to try and stop the upcoming crash.
Suffering a more prolonged death, Chrissie regained consciousness after the crash and engaged in a heartbreaking conversation with Lachlan before she passed away.
Rebecca was left unconscious and it's not yet clear what her condition is. Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), who they were chasing, called the ambulance and both Rebecca and Lachlan were taken to hospital.
What will happen to the White family?
Lawrence White, his daughter Rebecca and his grandson Lachlan and his mother Chrissie will, with the exception of Rebecca, be departing the village following the crash.
Producer Iain teased their exit telling The Sun Online: "It emerges from what Robert’s doing at the moment on screen.
"It’ll be big and dramatic and hopefully quite surprising and a bit out of the blue.
"It’s part of an ultimate redemption story for Robert, where he kind of feels like he’s hit rock bottom in terms of all the dastardly things he’s done over the years, and determines to start trying to live a bit differently and deal with things a bit differently."
