Celebrity Big Brother shock as Amanda Barrie has a tense showdown in the bathroom with Shane J as she defends Ann Widdecombe
Amanda defended Ann after Shane J pointed out that Ann voted against pro-LGBT legislation while she was an MP
CELEBRITY Big Brother viewers were shocked tonight when Amanda Barrie had a tense showdown with Shane J in the bathroom as she defended Ann Widdecombe.
Things were tense in the house as Amanda and Wayne Sleep were unimpressed with Shane discussing Ann's views and how she previously voted against pro-LGBT legislation while an elected MP.
Referencing Ann's views about gay marriage, Amanda said: "I get along with her and I'm in a civil partnership. You think you're a platform for LGBT rights!
"This is all mirror talk. You have your opinions and when you meet other people with strong opinions, you have a mirror reaction."
Shane said: "The difference is I'm not dictating the way anyone should live..." before Amanda interjected and said: "She's not dictating for God's sake".
"Look at how she's behaved, she's not dictating, she's made no difference at all."
Shane responded: "Well to be fair, in 23 years of parliament, she voted against ever piece of pro-LGBT legislation which is your rights as a human being."
Amanda - who is married to novelist Hilary Bonner - said: "It's not my rights, it doesn't affect me at all. I'm married! What are you talking about?"
Shane replied: "No Amanda, you have those rights not because of people like Ann but because of the people who stood up against Ann."
"I'm not into baby, I like people for what they are," Amanda said.
"I've been like this since I was born and when we got married we didn't ask for anybody's acceptance and every single person has taken it for who we are.
"And it's not all about gay rights," she added.
Shane then continued: "I agree with that, I think a woman should have the right to say what happens to her body but Ann doesn't think that a woman does - she doesn't agree with abortion."
Ann then stopped the conversation and accused Shane J of purposefully pulling his skirt off during his entrance into the house as Courtney Act.
She then said: "I'm going to bed now. I can't take too much bull****," before storming out.
Shane then said: "Well don't have a conversation you started and can't end."
She then went back into the bedroom and told Ann that she stood up for her.
Viewers at home were shocked by Amanda's outburst and how she and Wayne criticised Shane for expressing his opinions on the show.
One wrote: "#cbb 🤔Amanda comes from a time when LGBT+ ppl were just fighting for tolerance, so I get why she's keeping her head low, but to be tolerated isn't enough anymore...it's acceptance that's needed, and that's what @courtneyact 's fighting for."
Another said: "Damn Amanda!! If it wasn’t for people fighting for LGBT Rights YOU WOULDN’T BE IN A CIVIL PARTNERSHIP!!! How can you not see this?! #CBB".
Will Shane and Amanda sort it out? Tune in to Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5 at 9pm.
